Recap of the 2021 Pool Season

The pool hosted 6517 visits in 2021. That is about 95% of our 2019 usage. Sunday, July 4th was our biggest day every, with 237 users signing in. Having good weather, a holiday on the weekend, and holding a cookout all contributed!

Special thanks go to Angi Murphy & Linda Whittaker for organizing our three holiday cookouts, and to Dawn Wharton for organizing and upgrading our three Blue Moon parties with the addition of Game Night activities and music.

Water exercise classes led by Linda Steele and Dawn Wharton were a rousing success and were well attended throughout the season, and for the two weeks after Labor Day. Donna Townsend’s group of “water walkers” always drew a crowd, and Kathy Gold’s swimming lessons were another welcome contribution.

I cannot even begin to list all the volunteers who pitched in to clean and open pool in the Spring and help keep it running throughout the season. Thanks to all of you!

Pool Survey

At the end of the 2021 season, we asked members at the pool, at Happy Hour, and at our August membership meeting to fill out a one-page survey about operations and activities at the pool. We collected 31 responses, including many written comments.

In general, comments were very positive. The pool is views as an important asset to the community. Water exercise classes, swim lessons, cookouts, and game nights were appreciated.

Areas of concern included cleanliness of the pool, especially at the end of the season, selection of concessions offered, need for maintenance in the bathrooms, and the degree to which some guards paid insufficient attention to users in the water.

We will use this feedback to help us plan for next year’s pool season and will provide a summary of the data at our next membership meeting.
