The Summer Swim Season is fast approaching! We have formed a Pool Operations Committee which will oversee the pool and all the activities at the pool. Our first task was to find a Pool Manager. We are happy to announce that Christy Beamer, one of our own, has accepted the position. Christy is a middle school math teacher at Montross Middle School. Christy lives in the neighborhood and has taught many of the children and some of their parents. Christy brings enthusiasm, organization, a sense of humor, and great leadership skills. She will be a great asset to our pool season. You may have seen her at the pool as Christy and her son are frequent users. Christy has some great ideas and we look forward to her leadership.
The pool will open May 25, 2024 and we will have a cookout from 1-3 pm – hots, hamburgers, chips, water, and ice cream sundaes. Volunteers are needed for this event. Please contact Kathy Gold at 703-282-4078 or kathy@kathygoldcde.org.
Fortunately, most of our guards will be returning this year. They are excited about the upcoming year and have great plans for the pool. We will be introducing them in the next newsletter.
The Pool Operations Committee is comprised of 8 members – Fred Selby, Bill Spencer, Kathy Gold, Linda Steele, John DelSignore, Andrea Hall, Christy Beamer, and Jocelyn Davis. We are looking at policies, procedures, communication, and we want to be sure we all have a safe and fun summer swimming season. Please feel free to contact them with any suggestions.
Access cards will be required to access the pool. This is a firm rule and there will be no exceptions, so please have your access cards with you whenever you come to the pool.
If you don’t have an access card, then please contact Teresa at the clubhouse.
In order to ensure we have sufficient coverage, and for the safety of our patrons, we ask that you notify the lifeguard staff 48 hours in advance if you will be bringing more than 8 guests.
Emergency Contact Information Forms will be required of all pool users. We are instituting this safety measure to ensure that in the case of an emergency we will be able to reach out to an appropriate emergency contact. More information will be posted in Happenings and on Facebook over the next few weeks.
We will be continuing the deep-water swim test this summer. Any child under 12 will need to take a swim test given by the lifeguards before being allowed to swim in the deep end. They will then receive a bracelet to wear while swimming at the pool.
Pool Hours of Operation:
Saturday and Holidays -10am – 8pm
Monday through Thursday – 12 noon – 7pm
Friday – 12 noon – 8pm
Sunday – 10am – 7pm
Be aware that the pool will not be open if the outside air temperature is below 70 degrees, which may occur in late May and early June. The pool may also be closed during storms or for maintenance. Please check the Glebe Harbor & Cabin Point Facebook page or the Glebe Harbor & Cabin Point Owners/Residents Facebook page for closures and announcements. Activities will also be posted on Happenings.
