Golf Cart Legislation Proposed at General Assembly

During this year’s General Assembly in Richmond, Senator Richard Stuart introduced a bill to permit Westmoreland County to develop ordinances for use of golf carts in County subdivisions.  In essence, this bill would have permitted the County Board of Supervisors to enact specific ordinances related to golf cart usage in Stratford Harbor, Glebe Harbor, and Cabin Point.  The legislation was proposed in response to requests from individual residents in those three subdivisions who were interested in using golf carts from their homes to the recreational facilities located in their communities.  The bill was referred to the Senate Transportation Committee where it died.  No further action is expected this year.
