Dredging Project at Cabin Point Creek Inlet Channel Approved

This morning, the President and Treasurer of the GHCP Association briefed the County Board of Supervisors on the proposed dredging project at the Cabin Point Creek inlet channel.  In addition to dredging of the inlet channel, the project involves placement of dredged sand in the intertidal areas along the adjacent Cabin Point Beach.  The bid for this project was submitted by Docks of the Bay, at a cost of $69,700.  Docks of the Bay is presently finishing a dredging project for the County at Currioman Landing.  Approval of the contract at this time means that the dredging equipment can be relocated directly from Currioman Landing to Cabin Point, thus avoiding additional mobilization/demobilization costs of $15,000 to bring the equipment back at a later date.  The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the contract and agreed to appropriate funds from the Sanitary District fund balance to support the contract.

We don’t have a firm date yet, but we expect work to begin in the next few weeks.
