The observation platform at Cabin Point Beach has been leveled. The south corner of the platform had dropped about 6 inches in the past 2 to 3 years from settling/erosion under the South corner post and the adjacent mid span post. Rather than attempt to somehow raise the pilings, we elected to disconnect those two pilings from the supporting framework and reconnect it in a level position. The supporting bolts were removed (easy) and the nails that had been used for temporary support during construction were cut (less easy) from both posts. The platform and supporting structure were then jacked and the bolts reinstalled in the posts to secure it in the new position. Thanks go to Bill Spencer, Charles Powell, Bob Dunn, William Hood, and Jamonie Gaskins for making this happen.
