How we can improve our neighborhood

The civic associations would like to call your attention to things to do and check as spring is here, and outdoor activities are increasing.  Several suggestions follow:

  1. Please take your garbage bins off the street after collection day.  It really junks up the street to have several bins remaining for days after collection.
  2. Check your house and other structures on your property to see if mold or algae has commenced growing.  If so, a power washing should take care of it. This is an item that is easily overlooked, since it grows slowly with time and thus isn’t something that jumps out for attention.
  3. Do you have trees whose branches extend out into the street?  Please check this and remove any offending branches.  If needed, call VDOT for action if traffic is affected.
  4. If you have a vacant lot, please make sure you keep it cut in conformance with the covenants.  If you are unable or unwilling to do so, please engage someone for the maintenance. While the associations engage a mowing agent they contract for five cuttings, weeds grow fast and they get ahead of the scheduled mowing, particularly if weather causes delays.  Therefore, please consider cutting the road shoulders adjacent to your property if they are not being maintained.

Attention to these steps will help keep the communities an attractive place to live and contribute to maintaining good property values.

Also, please consider cutting the road shoulders adjacent to your property if they are not being maintained.
