Member Services: 2022 Update

Member Services – Events

Happy New Year!  Wishing everyone good health, happiness, and peace for the new year.

Happy Hour on Tuesdays have been temporarily suspended until we have more clarification on the impact of the Omicron variant in the local community. The Virginia Department of Health’s update on Covid-19 noted that “the Omicron variant is as transmissible as measles, which is the most highly contagious pathogen known.

Our Christmas Party had a nice turnout.  Compliments to the Chef, Brian Oliff of Angelo’s who did an outstanding job catering; the food was delicious.  Thank you, Jane Heron and Janice Fletcher, for your assistance in making this event an enjoyable evening.

The 1st Children’s Christmas Open House was held on December 18.  Angela Bensen and Jason Shem hosted this event. The children stayed busy making crafts that they could take home.  Two special guests showed up — Santa and Mrs. Claus (Thank you Dave and Barbie White).  They provided each child with a book and toy. (Thank you, Creekside Readers, for donating the books.)  The children seemed to enjoy themselves.

The New Year’s Eve Party was canceled due to the Omicron variant.  Barbie White, Deanna Rudnick, and Dawn Wharton were hosts for this event.  They put in a lot of time and planning into make this a fun event, including having a live band.  Sorry, that it did not work out this year.

2022 Upcoming Events: All events are subject to the impact of the Omicron Variant to the community.

There are several opportunities to host or co-host an event.  Spring events include an Easter Egg Hunt for the Children; Cinco de Mayo, and Kentucky Derby to name a few.  Please let me know at amurf1950@gmail.com  if you are interested in hosting any of these activities.  To keep activities going we need more volunteers.  [No volunteers mean no events.]

January 13 — “Paint and Sip Class” will take place on January 13 and monthly thereafter on the 2nd Thursday from 3-5:30 p.m., Teresa Edwards will be teaching the class using oil paints. These classes are limited, and an RSVP is required. Cost is $35 per person, all supplies furnished.

February 13! — Super Bowl Party: Mark your calendar! (More details to come later.)

Arts and Crafts – There are several ladies in the community who have expressed an interest in forming a crafters group in the spring and possibly holding an arts and crafts show in the fall.  If you are interested in participating contact Ronnie Voss at ronnielvoss@yahoo.com
