Westmoreland Holiday Program Needs Your Help

The Westmoreland County Children’s and Senior’s Program is gearing up to help families in need by supplementing them with clothing and other gift items for the holiday season. They are primarily asking for funding or gift cards due to Covid 19 restrictions, however, toys for the children will also be welcomed.

As we have for many years, the GH-CP Association is collecting donations at the clubhouse.  A Christmas tree has been put up just inside the Rotunda on your left where new, unwrapped clothing and toys for the children may be left.  If you are donating gift cards or checks, please put them in a sealed envelope marked on the front “Westmoreland Holiday Program”.  Please make any donations by check payable to Westmoreland Holiday Program.  Donations of gift cards or checks are to be placed in a sealed envelope and envelopes left with Teresa Edwards at the office or deposited in the incoming mail box in front of the Clubhouse.

Gifts and toys should be unwrapped and can be dropped off during normal business hours (you can call the office at 804 472 3646 to confirm someone is there to receive them).  Please try to limit the value of each gift item to no more than twenty-five dollars. Contributions should be made no later than December 15.  If you have questions, please call Nancy Messick at 804-472-9818.

You will notice that the outside lights around the portico are now lit for the holidays.  Thanks to Jim Amery, Doug Townsend, and Tommy Long for lighting up the night!  The Christmas tree will now be lit through the holiday at night and can be viewed when you drive into the community.  It is a symbol of hope for a brighter future beyond this pandemic holiday season.  Let’s work together to make this difficult holiday a bit brighter for families in need in the community.  Thank you for thinking of them.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
