Financial Assistance Opportunity For Households Impacted by COVID-19

Assistance Program Public Announcement

The Westmoreland Department of Social Services (WDSS) is operating a short-term assistance program for households experiencing financial hardship due to the impact of COVID-19.  Assistance is available in multiple areas including rent/mortgage; car payments, car repair, other transportation-related needs; utilities; and other needs that threaten health, safety, or stability in housing.  Funding limits, required documents, and allowable expenses are specific to the type of assistance requested.  Call (804) 493-9305 to have an Intake Form mailed to you or you may pick one up at WDSS offices.  Completed forms are to be returned in person.  If you are unable to get to the agency’s offices in Montross, the agency will be at the Glebe Harbor-Cabin Point Clubhouse from 10 AM to 2 PM on Monday, September 28 and at the Blake T. Newton Memorial Branch Library from 10 AM to 2 PM on Monday, October 5, to give out/receive Intake Forms and receive applications.  The agency may schedule additional intake events in the community.  Please call WDSS offices for updated information on dates and locations.    Persons screened as eligible will be given a full application package to complete.

Funding for this program is limited and households will be processed in order application is received.   Not all eligible households will qualify for all areas of assistance.   Households must be in the towns of Colonial Beach or Montross, or in Westmoreland unincorporated.
