We have been advised that, because of the extensive use of illegal fireworks in Virginia over the July 4th weekend, there will be additional law enforcement efforts this weekend to address this problem.

Please remember that all Westmoreland County ordinances and the GH-CP Sanitary District rules apply at all recreational facilities and beaches within the boundaries of the Sanitary District.  Commercial grade fireworks and open fires are not permitted on the beaches at any time.

Any commercial grade fireworks displays on private property require a permit issued by Westmoreland County.  As of this morning, no permits have been issued for fireworks display at any location in Westmoreland County.

While we do not know if our communities will be subject to specific law enforcement visits or patrols, you should assume that there may be patrols to assure that the use of fireworks on private or community property is in compliance with County ordinances and State law.
