Highlights of the December 7, 2019 General Membership Meeting

Russ Culver, our District 2 Supervisor, spoke about projects ongoing in the county. The new County park includes 5 ball fields that may be ready for play as early as next Spring. Ground has been broken for the new high school, which is scheduled to open in 2021.

Treasurer Fred Selby presented next year’s GHCP Association budget. GHCPA funds are primarily derived from clubhouse, and trailer storage space rentals, and leasing two lots owned by the GHCPA.  They fund property taxes on lots not leased to the Sanitary District, social events, and payroll costs that are not paid by the Sanitary District.

(The Sanitary District budget is entirely separate, funded by the annual Recreational User Fee, and approved by the County Board of Supervisors each year.)

Debbie Dunn reminded members to let Teresa know when their contact information changes. (GHCPAssoc@gmail.com, or 804-472-3646) That’s important to help us stay in touch with all members, and for those of you who have asked to be included in the membership directory, your updates will be posted on line.

President Jeanne Axtell reviewed our top 3 projects:

  • Cabin Point Beach – repair and extension of groins (Permits in hand, waiting on VDOT to install their rip rap, soliciting proposals)
  • Crystal Lane Beach – drainage remediation, grade and fill the upland area, and beach nourishment. (Underway)
  • Sewer connections at the clubhouse and pool. (Funding TBD)

The meeting announcement, agenda, and slide deck are posted on our web site HERE.
