Hurricane Florence Updates – Friday, 9/14

A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

NWS Weather Notification Coastal Flood Warning
Coastal Flood Warning issued September 13 at 4:53PM EDT expiring September 16 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA
* LOCATION…Portions of the Northern Neck adjacent to the
Chesapeake Bay, tidal Potomac and Rappahannock River.

* TIMING…Moderate to major flooding expected within a few hours
either side of each high tide early Friday morning through
Saturday evening.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS…Widespread flooding of vulnerable
areas will result in an elevated threat of property damage to
homes and businesses near the waterfront and shoreline. Water
will be 1 to 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting
in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads and threaten
homes and businesses. Flooding will extend inland from the
waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road
closures and flooding of vehicles.

The boat ramps in Glebe Harbor and Cabin Point are available for use by property owners in the community and are also being made available for use by neighbors in surrounding communities in advance of the approach of Hurricane Florence.  The ramp in Glebe Harbor is located on Osprey Drive and the ramp in Cabin Point is located on Boat Ramp Road off Anchorage Drive.  If you have neighbors who need a hand with storm preparations, please lend a hand.  This is the time for everyone to help one another.
