Quilt and Blanket Sewing Day

Last year, the GHCPA sponsored an all-day sewing fest to make quilts and blankets for distribution by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Department for their responses to domestic calls. We provided two quilts, 8 fleece blankets, and 2 crocheted blankets. The Sheriff’s Department has expressed appreciation for the blankets and would like more.

The quilts and blankets we make can be sewn, crocheted, or made from fleece where no sewing is required. Those who sew will assemble blocks for a quilt that we will finish, and sewing machines will be provided. Yarn and fleece for a blanket will be provided. Details on the crochet pattern and yarn needed are available ahead of time for those expressing an interest in crocheting. If you want to purchase fleece for a blanket, 2 yards of 58-60 inch wide fleece is needed, and should be a print or solid suitable for a kid or teen.

We will meet at the Clubhouse on February 13th 10am-4pm, and you are welcome to come for part or all of the time. We will break for lunch. Please bring something to drink. So far, volunteers are providing pulled pork sliders, salad and brownies. Other contributions are welcome.

Come enjoy the fun!  Questions, call or text Dot Spencer at 410-491-7400.
