Westmoreland County Christmas Program

The Westmoreland County Children’s and Senior’s Program is gearing up again this year in organizing their Holiday Gift Shop. As in past years, their plan is to assist families who are in need by supplementing them with clothing and other gifts for their children as well as selected seniors during the holiday season.  Our community has shown generous support for this program in years past.

Contributions need to be made no later than December 4, 2023. If gifts are purchased, they should be left unwrapped.  Please try to limit the value of each gift item to no more than $25.00.  Some ideas for children ages 1-12 include books, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, puzzle books, games, craft items, musical items, and gift cards to local stores.  For seniors, think personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, combs, and brushes;  also, playing cards, crossword puzzle books, stationery, stamps, and gift cards to Walmart and Food Lion.  Your holiday gifts can be delivered to the Clubhouse beginning November 1st.

If you prefer to donate by check, make it payable to Westmoreland Christmas Program and indicate your donation is for “The Holiday Gift Shop.”  It can be mailed  to Joseph Howell, Westmoreland Christmas Project Coordinator, Westmoreland Social Services, P.O. Box 302, Montross, VA 22520.  You will be mailed a receipt verifying your donation.

Many thanks to resident Nancy Mesick (804-472-9818) for keeping us involved in this worthwhile program to assist less fortunate children and seniors in our county.  Questions can also be directed to Mr. Howell at 804-313-7215 or joehowell31@gmail.com.  It’s not too early to start shopping!
