Highlights from the February 2020 GHCPA Board Meeting

Water, Water Everywhere

There are several reports about our water amenities.

Pool:   The pool will be opening a bit early this year on Saturday, May 23rd. It may not seem close now, but that date will be here before you know it.  The Friends of the Pool (FOP) could really use some more friends!  There is much to do to prepare for pool season and keep it going.  Please consider joining FOP by contacting Dot Spencer at dorothy.r.spencer@gmail.com.  We are also in need of a swim instructor.  If you know of anyone for this position, please let our VP for Facilities know.  That would be Bill Spencer at wtspencer3@gmail.com.

Cabin Point Beach:  The Request for Proposal (RFP) for engineering services for beach replenishment at Cabin Point Beach has closed.  An interview panel will be evaluating and ranking respondents. In a related action, bids for the groin work at Cabin Point Beach are still being solicited.

Crystal Lane Beach:  Work here is nearly completed.  The County is reviewing issues related to drainage correction with the contractor.

Committees:  A Waterways and Shoreline Major Projects Committee has been established, and will be chaired by Debbie Dever.  A Facilities Committee has also been established, chaired by Bill Spencer.

Are you new to the community?

The current and immediate past Directors of Membership Services are planning an orientation meeting at the clubhouse at  9:30 Saturday morning, April 25th.  While designed primarily for new members, it will be open to all who would like a refresher on various aspects of the GHCP Association, the Sanitary District, and the Civic Associations. Or even to just join us for a cup of coffee at 9am! Watch for more announcements and mark your calendar!

How are we doing?

The final draft of the Management Agreement Self Assessment Report and Recommendations was shared with the County Administrator.  There is agreement that the formation of the SD has been a positive decision and interactions between the Association and the County are working well. There are some mutually agreed upon recommendations that include quarterly reviews and the development of a SD page on the County’s website with FAQ’s to help answer your questions.      (Posted 2.27.2020)
