Highlights of the Membership Survey

Results from the 2025 membership survey were presented and discussed at our August 23 General Membership meeting. The charts and other data from that presentation are included in the meeting slide deck, but here are a few highlights from the survey.

  • The 2025 Membership Survey was open for comments July 30 through August 17.
  • A record 325 member households responded, 34% of our 953 owners
  • 60% of respondents were full-time residents, 24% weekenders, 21% seasonal residents
  • 47% of respondents have owned property here for less than 6 years.
  • Overall, the amenities rated most important to the community were unchanged – the pool, navigable waterways, beaches, boat ramps, and the clubhouse.
  • Top priorities for improvement were: fix drainage problems, improve community roads, dredge Cabin Point channels, Renovate the Playground.
  • 67% favor pursuing golf cart community status; 77% favor lowering speed limits; 78% agree that our facilities are well run.
  • Strong support (83%) for continuing efforts by the Association to maintain non-VDOT roads, and to work toward their future inclusion in the State system (90%.)
  • Strong interest in roadway-related services that are not currently funded, including mowing along community entrance roads; maintaining drainage ditches, culverts, and easements; mowing roadside easements to improve line of sight for traffic and pedestrian safety; and care for common properties.
  • Interest/willingness to attend a special meeting at the clubhouse to learn more about the Association’s goals for maintenance and future inclusion of the non-VDOT roads into the state system, and to ask questions (60%.) That meeting has been scheduled and will be held at the clubhouse on November 8th.
