A thank you note from Bill Spencer

Thanks to our volunteers at the pool.

Wanda Dalling, Tracy Milne, Alicia Nesmith, Fred Selby, Amr Seoudy, and Jessica Simpson turned out to our call for volunteers and stored the remaining pool furniture, the vending machine, and other pool equipment for the winter.

William Hood, Mike Berry (our facilities director), and I led a group of three young men we hired to remove and replace the 2600 pounds of sand in our pool filters. Ricky Spencer, Shawn Hutt, and Brayden Cobb did the literal heavy lifting.

Mike brought his tractor from Stratford to move materials and distribute the old sand to improve the roadway around the trailer parking and playground access loop.

The efforts of our volunteers to identify, size, plan, shop, and oversee this effort saved our Association members (that’s you as payers of the Recreational User Fee) $11,000 compared to the one commercial bid we received. (We never intended to pay their additional $2200 surcharge to take away the old sand.)

On A Personal Note:

Over 60 years of voluntary personal and financial commitments and contributions of property owners have created the GH-CP Community we share.  After several generations, we are still growing, vibrant, and ever changing.  Like everything else, volunteerism will continue to evolve and emerge in its own form again.  But I urge all of you to find ways to participate as you can. People who just live next door are neighbors by accident.  We become a community when we reach out, connect, participate, volunteer, and work together within GH-CP and beyond.

But you know that.

And, as always, thank you for the things each of you do to make Glebe Harbor-Cabin Point a Great Place to Live!

Bill Spencer
