Oyster Roast Recognition

What a day!  Our annual Oyster Roast was one for the books.

I honestly can’t thank everyone enough for showing up, pitching in, and helping make this event such a success. There are SO many moving parts behind the scenes, and this crew showed up in a big way!

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who helped make the magic happen:

Thank you to the Carons, for a few last minute tents and everyone that pitched in to make sure any sun rays or water drops stayed away!

The food crew: The Murphys, Axtells, Prestons, and their crew for tackling the toppings and grilling; Bruce and Amanda Heflin and crew for steaming; Sylvester Hackett for shucking alongside some of the Heflin crew; and the Prestons, Powells and Heflin crew for helping with the fried oysters.

Kim Powell and her crew for serving up delicious BBQ and fried oysters. You kept everyone fed and happy!

Sid and Penny and their amazing BBQ—I’m craving more already!

Dawn, thank you for keeping things rolling and helping make the day even more fun!

Isaac and Winston for the AMAZING music! Hopefully, we’ll be seeing them at GRV soon, so if you missed them, you’ll get another chance!

Tracy and Bonnie for running our wonderful 50/50, and congratulations to Kathy Gold, who won $220! The rest of the proceeds went right back toward helping cover our event costs.

Grace for being my sounding board; always . Kathy Gold for all the advice and guidance, and Fred, Jessica, and Alicia for being part of the crew that keeps everything moving—truly couldn’t have done it without you!

And to EVERYONE who stuck around to load the truck, clean up, and put everything back together after the fun was over, THANK YOU! You know who you are, and you are appreciated more than you know.

This year came with cancellations, scheduling conflicts, illness, and even a death in the family, making it a little more challenging than usual—all on top of oyster shortages and challenges. But everyone pulled together, stepped up, and made it happen. That’s what makes this community so special. YOU showed up and showed out!!

I’m incredibly grateful for every single person who helped, whether it was a huge job or a little something behind the scenes. No contribution is too small, and this event simply would not happen without all of you!

Thank you all for the hard work, the laughs, the teamwork, and the community spirit. It was truly a wonderful day!

This is what community looks like, folks. And ours is pretty darn amazing!

If I missed tagging someone, please know I appreciate YOU and all you’ve done to help make this event a success!
