Community Lawn Maintenance Reminder

As the growing season continues, this is a friendly reminder that all properties within the community — including lots with homes and unimproved/vacant lots — should have grass maintained at no taller than 8 inches in height. Regular lawn maintenance helps keep our neighborhood clean, attractive, and enjoyable for everyone while also reducing pests, weeds, and fire hazards. If you need help keeping up with your grass check with your neighbors for help, the Local Resources page at gh-cp.org, or the Community Facebook page for neighbor recommended companies that service our community (*we do not endorse or verify the businesses).

Helpful Lawn Care & Landscaping Tips

  • Mow regularly during peak growing months to avoid overgrowth.
  • Try not to cut more than one-third of the grass height at a time to keep lawns healthy and green.
  • Keep sidewalks, curbs, and driveways edged and free of clippings.
  • Remove weeds early before they spread.
  • Consider adding mulch around flower beds and trees to help retain moisture and reduce weeds.

Drought & Dry Weather Lawn Tips

  • Raise your mower blade slightly during drought conditions. Taller grass helps shade the soil and retain moisture.
  • Water deeply but less frequently to encourage deeper root growth.
  • Early morning is the best time to water to reduce evaporation.
  • Avoid overwatering — many lawns naturally go dormant during extreme heat and will recover when rain returns.
  • Leave grass clippings on the lawn when possible to help return nutrients and retain moisture.
  • Reduce foot traffic on stressed or brown grass to prevent additional damage.
