Community Comes Together for Cookout and Carnival

On August 1, neighbors gathered at the pool for the rescheduled GHCP Association Fourth of July Cookout and Kids Carnival. The combined event brought together food, games, school-supply giveaways, and plenty of community spirit.

Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., 166 people checked in at the pool. Volunteers served 120 hot dogs and 96 hamburgers…more than 200 meals in al!

Thanks to the generosity of community donors, approximately 40 pencil pouches filled with school supplies and two backpacks filled with goodies were given away. Every child left with something to help them begin the new school year, which was the goal from the start.

Events like this are only possible because people are willing to give their time, energy, and resources. We extend a special thank-you to the members of the Pool Operations Committee for supporting the event while also continuing their important behind-the-scenes work to keep the pool operating safely and smoothly throughout the season.

We are also grateful to every volunteer who helped with planning, setup, cooking, games, cleanup, and all the other tasks that kept the day running:

Jeff Preston, Shelly Preston, Alicia Vosburgh, Jason Scherm, Beth Scherm, Tom Withers, Trisha Withers, , Debbie Hobbs, Theresa Proctor, Steve Merritt, Molly Hatcher, Casey Coger, Fred Selby, and Tracy Milne.

Thank you as well to our generous donors:

Mickey Dent, Rebecca Skinner, Connie Sirbaugh, Theresa Carr, Debbie Dunn, Tanya Lynn, and Angelina Fields.

If we missed a name, please know we appreciate you and all you do for the community.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended. The smiles, laughter, and time spent together made all the hard work worthwhile and demonstrated what can happen when our community comes together.
