The Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors (BOS) met on Monday, February 23, 2026, to vote on VDOT conducting a speed study on Glebe Harbor Dr. in Glebe Harbor. The current speed limit is 35 mph for the entire length of Glebe Harbor Dr. The GH-CP Association Board of Directors has long been concerned with higher speeds than the Board is comfortable with in the community.
Jeff McCormack, our District II representative on the BOS, presented a motion to the BOS approving the speed study. The motion was unanimously approved by the Board.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will arrange for a speed study by a commercial organization and the approximately $6,000 cost of the study will be paid for from a previously existing fund.
VDOT had earlier announced the speed limit on Royal Way in Cabin Point would be changed. The Royal Way speed limit will be reduced from 40 mph to 35 mph at a point 900 ft. south of Cabin Point Dr. between Duck Pt. Circle and Kings Orchard Lane. The 25 mph portion of Royal Way will remain unchanged. This change is made to create a safer transition into the 25 mph portion of Royal Way.
