In the middle of IceMageddon, it’s hard to imagine an inviting, shimmering pool to enjoy cooling off in with family and friends! But Pool Season 2026 is just around the corner, and the Pool Operations Committee (POC) is already neck-deep planning for it! First, a big thank you goes to Kathy Gold for heading the POC for the past several years, and bringing us a safe, clean, and fun pool environment. Kathy will continue to provide a much-needed service, that of swim lessons, as well coordinating the pool usage by the Westmoreland County Boys and Girls Club.
This year, Dot Spencer is leading the POC, with Steve Merritt, Andrea Hall, Jeff and Shelly Preston, and Fred Selby joining us for another year. New to the Committee with some fresh ideas are Jessica Duncan and Alicia Nesmith. Each of our members has an area of expertise and has already made tremendous contributions to our planning. However, in order to make Summer 2026 festive and fun, we will need your help in the following ways. Very shortly we will be posting job descriptions and applications for Pool Manager and Lifeguard positions under the Pool Tab on our Website, on Facebook and other online sources, as well as making hardcopy available at the GHCPA Office. If you know of someone who might be interested, please pass this on to them. Another way to help is to volunteer for a variety of pool tasks, including readying the pool for opening and helping with Holiday events. Volunteer opportunities will be publicized in a variety of ways (e.g., Happenings) over the course of the summer. SO, help make our pool a fun place to be for Summer 2026!
