And the July 2025 Tip of the Hat Award Goes to ……

The 4th of July weekend has always been the busiest time of our pool year, so it’s a good time to recognize some of the contributions made by member volunteers whose contributions make GHCP A Great Place to Live.

Our 58-year-old swimming pool is the most popular recreational amenity in our community. Last year we hosted 9,345 user visits, up 10% over 2023!  It takes several dozen volunteers to prep and operate the pool every year, but this year there are two particular leaders who deserve special recognition.

Steve Merritt has taken over the lead role for “pool facilities.” He organized and led the spring cleanup this year and does what it takes throughout the season to keep the physical pool facility safe and operational.

Kathy Gold has been the chairperson of our Pool Operations Committee for a while and has the lead in hiring and oversight of our pool operations. She and her volunteers organize the holiday and “Blue Moon” events at the pool.  She also manages the day-to-day operations, policies, and procedures to keep visiting the pool a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Much of the credit for the success of our pool seasons goes to Kathy and Steve.

So, with our sincere appreciation, Kathy and Steve are hereby awarded the GH-CP Tip of the Hat award for their roles in helping keep Glebe Harbor-Cabin Point a “Great Place to Live.”  (And the pool a great place to relax.) Thank you both!
