As most of you are likely aware, earlier this month we had to close the pool for nearly a week as we investigated a possible black algae situation. In the ensuing days, we learned about fungicides, chlorine shock, clarifiers, brushing, pressure washing, laboratory tests, and (as Andy Griffith used to say) “I don’t know what all.” Somehow, everything worked out so that the pool could re-open just in time for the Howl at the Moon festivities. How was this possible? The same way most everything else happens here: VOLUNTEER HELP. And what dedicated help we had! A huge thank you from the community and major kudos go to Bill Spencer and Steve Merritt who, along with some pool angels, did everything from evaluation to remediation and got the pool back open just as the weather started heating up.
We appreciate the patience shown by our community and give special thanks to the volunteers who made this possible; apologies for any names that have been inadvertently omitted, but that list certainly includes:
John & Kathy Gold Tommy Long Steve & Terry Merritt Jeff & Shelly Preston Fred Selby Bill & Dot Spencer Scott Synnott Scott Thomas Dawn Wharton
You are all now recipients of the Tip of the Hat award, which hardly seems sufficient. Nonetheless, the award is yours with much appreciation from the entire GH-CP community!
