Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Westmoreland County’s 2025 Household Hazardous Waste Collection events are scheduled for Saturday, 17 May and Saturday 27 September 2025 from 9AM-2PM.

Collection point is the A/T. Johnson Building Parking Lot, 18849 Kings Hwy., Montross, VA

What are acceptable items to bring?

  • Spent fluorescent bulbs
  • Unwanted pesticides
  • Anti-freeze
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Cleaners
  • Oil based paints/stains
  • Old/contaminated fuels/petroleum products
  • Household chemicals

What are not acceptable items to bring?

  • Radioactive items
  • Smoke detectors
  • Medical waste
  • Medications
  • Ammo/explosives

NOTE: Westmoreland County does not accept electronics at these events.  Obtain a $5 coupon from the county tax office for disposal of electronics at the Montross Transfer Station.
