Several comments on the recent survey reveal that a number of residents remain unaware of the various means of communications available in our community. Some folks who have attended the New Members Orientation in the past might have received a handout similar to what is included in this article. It is reposted now for those who do not have it. The Board would like to remind you that the website remains the best source of accurate information. You can find it at www.gh-cp.org.
A source of confusion centers around the two Facebook pages (facebook.com/GlebeHarborandCabinPoint and Glebe Harbor & Cabin Point Owners/Residents Group) with one commenter saying sometimes the messages are different on the two pages regarding the same subject. The first listing is the official Facebook page of the Association. It is used to publish information, generally abbreviated, that is also available on the website in greater detail. It is used for reminders of events and deadlines or to highlight some special need or activity. It is also used to notify the community about pool closings in real time. There are some limitations with this page as it is “open” to all on Facebook; no proof of ownership or residency is required, and it is not an interactive page. Some folks like it that way; others do not. Understandably, it is not the place for all types of information to be published; however, what does appear there is posted by the Association and is as accurate as possible. The other “Owners and Residents” Facebook page serves a different purpose. It is an interactive forum and one must be an owner or resident and “apply” to join. Again, some like it that way and others do not. It is important to note that this page is run independently by a private citizen and is not the official voice of the Association. As such, it is not the appropriate vehicle to conduct official Association and Sanitary District business. The Association does, however, post reminders about events and deadlines and other items from time to time. Pool closings are generally posted there as well. You will most frequently find that if there is more detailed information available on the website, we will direct you there—-again, to the most accurate repository of information.
We have many newcomers. Asking a question on Facebook is fine if you understand that there may be many different answers from other newcomers with varying degrees of accuracy, at least regarding GHCPA and SD business. Please don’t hesitate to call or email the office (GHCPAssoc@gmail.com) or any Board member with questions related to our Association (GHCPA) or the Sanitary District (SD).
