Summer is flying by, and it has been a great summer at the pool. Our usage is up, over 60 children have received swimming lessons, and exercise classes have hit an all-time high of 24!
Sadly, for some, summer vacation is almost over as school starts next week. As our guards and pool manager will be back at school, the pool will remain open but be aware that lifeguards may not be on duty from 12:00-4:00 weekdays. Therefore, watch your children and each other to ensure their safety. The Pool Committee is working hard to ensure a responsible adult is on duty. Volunteers greatly appreciated.
The fun times will continue in August as we have Howl at the Moon on Saturday, August 17th from 6 – 10 PM. We will have Preacher Dave’s Food Truck from 6-9 PM. Karaoke is back, and we will have games for the kids. Since the underwater pool lights are totally disconnected, we will not be swimming after dark but we encourage everyone to come and enjoy our celebration of the Sturgeon Moon, named for North America’s largest fish. The Full Moon in August is called Sturgeon Moon because of the large number of sturgeon fish that were found in the Great Lakes in North America this time of year. Other names for this Full Moon include Grain Moon, Corn Moon, Lynx Moon, and Lightning Moon.
As we wrap up the end of Summer, our Labor Day Celebration will be Saturday, August 31st. We will have our final cookout and an ice cream social from 1-3 PM, with a rain date of Sunday, September 1.
Please be sure to thank our wonderful, attentive lifeguards and Pool Manager (Christy Beamer) for their efforts in keeping everyone safe at the pool this summer.
